Now the chickpea genome has been sequenced!

About :

Genome sequencing projects have either been completed or in advanced stages in case of Medicago, Lotus and soybean. Large scale trancriptomics work is in progress in chickpea at ICRISAT and NIPGR. In summary, a large amount of sequence data have become available from different legume species. Recent tools and approaches of bioinformatics are facilitating the gene discovery as well as alignment of different legume genomes. Based on mapping of conserved orthologolous sequences (COS) markers, comparative maps are being developed in chickpea and four other legume species.
